RESULTS FROM THE UNION'S TORONTO DEBUT: BORN AGAIN
The UNION of INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONAL WRESTLERS returned to the indy wrestling scene Saturday night with its first show in over 3 years. The UNION, now based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, delighted its fans with a solid show and they responded with cheers, boos, laughs and thunderous applause throughout the night.
RIP IMPACT pinned SHIIMA XION
ETHAN PAGE pinned JESSY JONES
ROBIN KNIGHTWING pinned EDDIE OSBOURNE
EDDIE VENOM pinned KEVIN GRACE
SEBASTIAN DARK pinned REGGIE MARLEY
JOHN McCHESNEY pinned EL GENERICO
PEPPER PARKS and RICKY LANDELL went to a 20 minute draw
STEVE CORINO pinned STERLING JAMES KEENAN
The show began with the Head of Fighters Affairs, AUSTIN SHAW, addressing the crowd before being interrupted by "Fabulous" JOHN McCHESNEY. McChesney informed the crowd that at the original Union's very last show before ceasing operation, was mad that Shaw had announced online that there would be a title tournament in November. McChesney said that he had never lost the Union title so he should be recognized as champion. This bragging brought SEBASTIAN DARK to the ring. Sebastian informed the new Union fans in Toronto that he was the first-ever Union champion and that if the Union was restarting that HE should be declared champion once again. The two former champions came close to brawling before Austin Shaw stepped in to say that he would make a match for October between "The Fabulous One" and "The Bastard Son of 1,000 Corpses" and the winner would earn a spot in the November title tournament.
JESSY JONES, who has declared himself "The King of Canada", looked quite spiffy in his RCMP-inspired red and black outfit, but came up short in his match against rookie ETHAN PAGE.
ROBIN KNIGHTWING stepped off a plane from England and into controversy. Coming to the building straight from Toronto's Pearson International Airport after a 7-week tour of the UK, Robin scored a victory over EDDIE OSBOURNE but the referee failed to notice Osbourne's feet were on the ropes. The always-outspoken Osbourne has filed a complaint with Austin Shaw in an attempt to get the result overturned and the referee, CJ SENSATION, fired.
Robin's victory celebration was short-lived however, as the scheduled match between his "ALL-KNIGHTERS" tag partner, KEVIN GRACE, and the 6'9", 300lb "Motor City Monster" EDDIE VENOM quickly turned into Venom destroying both All-Knighters. Venom earned the duke by hitting a massive Death Valley Driver on Grace. After the match, while Knightwing was tending to his partner, Venom returned to the ring and gave Robin a Death Valley Driver on top of Kevin. Both All-Kinghters had to be carried out of the ring by Union officials.
First-ever Union champion Sebastian Dark backed up his boasting with actions by defeating the veteran REGGIE MARLEY. John McChesney reappeared, taking the opportunity to scout Dark during his match.
After intermission, fans were treated to what many are calling the "Match of the Night" as "Fabulous" John McChesney defeated EL GENERICO by pinfall. This was an exiting back and forth match with plenty of high-risk offence by both men and must be seen to be believed.
During the match, Sebastian Dark returned McChesey's favor by coming to ringside to scout his future opponent. After the match, Dark and McChesney decided that they didn't need to wait until October 6 th to settle their issue and a brawl ensued that referees and Union officials were forced to break-up.
In a battle that pitted the rising stars of the NWA and AWA against one another, NWA Empire champion PEPPER PARKS and AWA Zero-One Max United States champion RICKY LANDELL went to a 20-minute draw. Fans who cheered the match, which reached a climax in the final 3 minutes, then booed Landell who asked for a 5-minute overtime but then told the crowd that if they wanted five more minutes they'd have to by a ticket to the next show.
Then, in the main event of the evening, "The King of Old School" STEVE CORINO defeated STERLING JAMES KEENAN. Keenan was accompanied to ringside by his new valet, a gorgeous redhead woman named CHASE, and by Sebastian Dark. Keenan has apparently given the group a name: The BDSM (short for BloodDeathSexMagic). But even with the outside interference of The BDSM, Keenan was unable to score the victory, as Corino used a quick roll-up to score the 3-count.
Corino remained in the ring after the match to address the crowd. He spoke eloquently about professional wrestling being an art, a science and the greatest sport on Earth and how Canada loves and respects professional wrestling like no other country in the world. Corino closed by saying that he's looking forward to the next few months helping re-launch the Union and cap off his career in Canada (Corino has announced that he is retiring this December) by winning the Union Heavyweight title.

UIPW News for 03 Sept 2007
BIG CHANGES TO THE LINE-UP FOR "BORN AGAIN"
With just days to go before the UNION's debut event in Toronto, AUSTIN SHAW, the UIPW Head of Fighters Affairs, was reminded of just how true the phrase "Card subject to change" can be when he received some bad news from several of its Workers. First, CHRIS KOLE had to cancel his appearance at BORN AGAIN. Then, RAYMOND ROWE had to bow out. And finally, TOBY KLEIN is being advertised to wrestle for IWA: Mid-South on September 7, 8 and 9 and has become unreachable by UNION officials to either confirm or cancel his long-scheduled appearance in Toronto.
Shaw has taken this opportunity to recruit some new talent and re-shuffle the line-up for this debut event. First, Shaw contacted indy wrestling sensation "FABULOUS" JOHN McCHESNEY. Fans with elephant-like memories will recall that McChesney was the last Heavyweight champion of the original UNION back in 2004. The Fabulous One is now back in the UNION and looking to climb back to the top. He'll get that chance right away as McChesney will take on EL GENERICO in the evening's semi-main event.
Next, Austin Shaw placed a call to South Jersey to recruit "The New Generation Ace" RICKY LANDELL. Trained by STEVE CORINO, Landell has come into his own making appearances for groups such as Ring of Honor and Jersey All-Pro, successfully touring Japan, winning the AWA World Tag titles and now, joining the UNION. The brash young upstart will go one-on-one with Buffalo, NY's PEPPER PARKS at BORN AGAIN.
In addition, Shaw has scrambled the card a little to provide UNION fans' with even more excitement. Shaw has added another Northern Lights Cruiserweight Division match as EDDIE OSBOURNE will now face off against RIP IMPACT. With The HORNET and SHIIMA XION still scheduled to fight, the Northern Lights Division is getting a tremendous kick-off at BORN AGAIN.
Here's a rundown of the complete card...

PWU 8/18 News: From The Desk of Tod Gordon...
ProWrestlingUnplugged.com
FANS WHO ARE SICK AND TIRED FINALLY GET TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ! Seems as though everywhere I go, wrestling fans all have the same complaints. This is boring, this is insulting, who writes this crap? Watching the monster from Connecticut try to pick off another idea such as our Commissioner Idol and blowing it with no true understanding that it is being done for the F-A-N-S, as opposed to their own "inside sense of humor" , once again proves that the fans' complaints are correct.
This Saturday night, August the 18th, Pro Wrestling Unplugged returns to the New Alhambra in South Philadelphia with a truly star studded line-up. 2 COLD SCORPIO, JOEY MATTHEWS, GANGREL, THE "REAL" PITBULL GARY WOLF, ICP'S VIOLENT J ALONG WITH THE HATCHET BOYZ COPO! RAL ROBINSON AND TOO TUFF TONY, TRENT ACID, JOHN MCCHESNEY, JOHNNY "BATMAN" KASHMERE, LUKE HAWX, EDDIE KINGSTON, Z-BARR, DEVON MOORE, DETOX, THE "COMPLETE" PETE HUNTER, ARAMIS, PRYME TIME AMY LEE, ANNIE SOCIAL, TEDDY FINE , DREW BLOOD, VITO,SAL, AND BRANDON, THE THOMASELLI'S , THE ORIGINAL DIVA SUNNY, CANNON, MAXWELL, and the list goes on and on and on.
Who's wrestling who? What are the stipulations? Who knows ??? I don't ! The wrestler's don't ! The fan's upon entering the building won't !! THIS SATURDAY NIGHT ... YOU DECIDE ! What would you really like to see? Want to see The Violent J, Corp, and Tony try and exact revenge against The Thomaselli's in 6 man action? Want to see Amy Lee against Detox? How about The Bosom Buddies getting a tag title shot or a chance for another beat down of Cannon and Maxwell? Maybe Cannon against Maxwell? Think Lucky can keep his "lucky" streak going against Trent Acid, or do you think it's time for Trent to get another shot at what ! he calls "his" title? Speaking of titles, who gets a shot at 2 Cold Sc orpio or the SAT's? Ever wonder what it might be like if you made a match with one member of AMIL teaming up with one member of the SAT's fighting against their respective brothers. That's the beauty of this. YOU DECIDE RIGHT THEN AND THERE !
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS. Upon entering the Arena this Saturday, you will have an opportunity to purchase as many chances as you'd like. Chances will sell for $5.00 with specials such as 3 chances for $10.00 or 5 chances for $20.00. You can buy 1, you can buy 50. We will put them all into a bowl as we bring our entire locker room to ringside. We will draw a name, and that person can on the spot make a match. World title, Tag titles, Grudge Match, Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match, Man vs. woman match, or......... if you're name is drawn, you can have the option OF PUTTING YOURSELF OR ONE OF YOUR FAMILY OR FRIENDS INTO THE LAST OPEN SPOT OF THE COMMISSIONER IDOL FINALS. Maybe you felt someone who didn't make it should have. Maybe you ! just never got around to sending in a tape. It's Fan Appreciation Night at PWU, so if you so choose, you can skip the work and go right into the finals. After the first winner makes a match, those 2,4,6, or however many picked return to the dressing room and another name is picked. That person makes a match or uses it for Commissioner Idol. We will do this until ten matches have been booked by the smartest wrestling fans anywhere around today. After 10 matches have been booked, the remaining wrestlers will pack their bags and go home because YOU'RE ONLY GOING TO SEE WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE, NOTHING ELSE ! Sounds like a simple concept. I'm sure we'll see it somewhere else soon, but until we do, all of us at Pro Wrestling Unplugged have 1 thing to say to our loyal fans ..... THANK YOU !!
PS - As far as the 3rd Anniversary, I have personally asked that legend, Nikolai Volkoff, to attend the Red Carpet Arrival Show and sing "America The Beautiful." That is on top of the ma! jor star that I will announce to be at the 3rd Anniversary event this Saturday.
