PWS + reports from EPW & CZW TV

Pro Wrestling Syndicate sent this in:

Pro Wrestling Syndicate presents Blitzkrieg on Friday night September 7 at The Garfield Boys & Girls Club on 490 Midland Ave in Garfield, NJ (30 minutes from NYC). Doors at 7pm. Belltime is 7:30pm.

Already Announced

Eddie Kingston/Samoa Joe vs Commissioner Necro Butcher/Chris Hero - No DQ, Falls Count Anywhere

Sabu vs Trent Acid

"Black Machismo" Jay Lethal vs "The Genius" Lanny Poffo

Justin Credible vs Reckless Youth - Best Of 3 Falls

Steve Monsta Mack vs Abyss

The Zombie vs Crowbar

Plus more including Talia Madison, Danny Demanto, Paul E Normus, and more!

The main event of the evening will be a No Disqualification Falls Count Anywhere Tag Team Bout pitting "The King Of Diamonds" Eddie Kingston and his partner current TNA X Division + TNA Tag Team Champion Samoa Joe against The ILLUMINATI faction of "The Savior Of Professional Wrestling" Chris Hero and the Pro Wrestling Syndicate Commissioner, Necro Butcher. At PWS' debut event, one of the two scheduled main events was Samoa Joe vs Chris Hero, however Eddie Kingston revealed that "due to car problems" Hero would not be able to attend the event. As a result, Eddie Kingston issued an open challenge which was accepted by Samoa Joe. When the PW Syndicate Commissioner (who at this point still maintained an unknown identity) also was not in attendance as scheduled, fans began to suspect a conspiracy in the works. Suspicions were confirmed less then 24 hours later when Chris Hero and Commissioner Necro Butcher revealed that they had formed an alliance and purposely set up their rivals Kingston and Joe to take each other out at PWS' Revelation debut event on June 24th. Seeking revenge, Kingston challenged The ILLUMINATI to a tag team match and was granted permission to pick a partner of his choosing. However when the "King Of Diamonds" pulled an ace out of his sleeve by selecting two time former ECW Heavyweight Champion Sabu, a mysterious poll was posted on the PW Syndicate's Myspace page asking fans to vote between Sabu and Samoa Joe as Kingston's partner less then a week later. This poll resulted in Joe winning in a landslide with over 3,500 votes. Could PWS fans have wanted Joe as Kingston's partner or was this further work of the devious hardcore Commissioner? Will Kingston and Joe who beat the hell out of each other at Pro Wrestling Syndicate's debut event be able to get along as a tandem or will their forced union create further complications...and if they do, will Kingston have aces up his sleeve to have his back? A lot of questions surround this match, but without a doubt this one will be a hardcore classic and there must be a winner by pinfall or submission anywhere in the building.

Also on the card will be a singles matchup between "The International Superstar" Trent Acid and the "Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Death-Defying" Sabu. Acid, who is arguably in the prime of his career, is coming off a huge victory over TNA star Alex Shelley and former Wrestling Society X standout The Human Tornado in a Triple Threat Match at Revelation. Will Acid's hot streak keep up or will the maniacal Sabu, a man who time and time again has proven he knows no limitations be too much for Acid to tame? This one is bound to get insane as both of these men have an arsenal of high flying moves and amazing hardcore brawling skills, and are both known to put their bodies on the line to gain a victory.

In a match that can only be described as "The Battle Of The Brothers From Another Mother"; former TNA X Division Champion "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal will square off against wrestling legend and real life brother of Macho Man Randy Savage, the one and only "Genius" Lanny Poffo!

Blitzkrieg will also feature a rematch from Revelation between former ECW Champion+8 time WWE Hardcore Champion Justin Credible and "The King Of The Indies" Reckless Youth... only this time it's under Best Of 3 Falls rules as a result of a controversial three count in their first match up.

Former TNA Heavyweight Champion "The Monster" Abyss goes one on one for the first time ever with tri state area phenom Steve "Monsta" Mack! These two bulls collided as part of a 4 Way No DQ Elimination Match at Revelation, however neither of these men eliminated the other. Now placed in a one on one situation with no weapons, which monster...eh..monsta..eh.... will prevail?

PLUS JUST ANNOUNCED:

The ECW Zombie collides with another fiendish lunatic in the form of former WCW Hardcore, Cruiserweight, and Tag Team Champion Crowbar!

All of this plus more including The "Cold Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto, the lovely Talia Madison, the barbaric Paul E Normus, and more! Also fans just to be clear, wrestling superstar Vampiro who was originally confirmed for this event is no longer able to make it due to his commitments with AAA Wrestling in Mexico. Vampiro will however be on a Pro Wrestling Syndicate event in the near future.

Bradley Grover sent this report in:

Eastern Pro Wrestling presented "Rage In A Cage", a taping for "EPW Challenge" to be posted in late august and early September at www.epwwrestling.com, at the Cheshire Fairgounds Ice Arena in North Swanzey, NH in front of approximately 200 fans. Shawn Vincent served as ring announcer and Dan Tanaka & the lovely Amber-Rae were the referees. After the EPW opening video set to Saliva's "Superstar" and some ground rules from Shawn Vincent, it was time for our opening match. Bryce Andrews, B.K. Jordan, Chris Venom, Paul Lombardi , Mike Bennett, Clip O'Reilly and Tanya Lee were scheduled, but were not there.

Match 1-Rocco Abruzzi beat "Nightmare" Nick Steel by pin in about 5:30 with a top-rope splash.

Match 2-"Real Deal" Brandon Locke beat "Straight Edge" Brian Fury and Owen Graichen in nearly 5:00 of a triple threat match when Locke pinned Graichen after an Alabama Slam.

Match 3-Chunky But Funky(Sonny "The Strut" Goodspeed and "Dancin'" DJ Baron) beat The Elite("Playboy" Preston Patrick and "Prime Time" Anthony Pacitto with Marshall McNeill) in 4:30 when Goodspeed pinned Patrick after an elbowdrop. During their entrance, CBF brought kids from the crowd to ringside. CBF got Amber-Rae to strut in the ring after the match.

Match 4-Nikki Roxx(aka TNA's Roxy Leveaux) won a 12-person battle royal by last eliminating Owen Graichen in 5:30 to earn an immediate shot at the EPW heavyweight title.

Match 5-Nikki Roxx beat EPW Heavyweight Champion "Brutal" bob Evans by countout in 9:30. Evans said he supported equal opportunity, except in a wrestling ring. He said he would give Roxx the title if she survived 10 minutes in the ring with him. He then told Tanaka the stand outside the ring and Amber-Rae to officiate inside. Evans kept trying to prove superiority, but Roxx proved herself. Evans kept the title due to the countout.

We then get an intermission while Pride, Thom Kane and Rocco Abruzzi helped Tanaka set up the cage. Some fans got photos taken with wrestlers.

Main Event-Rage In A Cage:Pride(Dan Freitas and Brian Nunes), "Trouble Walkin'" Thom Kane and Ray Diamond beat The Trendsetters("The Original" Max Bauer and Handsome Johnny) and EPW Tag Team Champions Winter Hill Gang(Sid Momentum and Big Louie)in 21:00 when Diamond became the 4 th man on his team to leave the cage. The match started with 2 men inside the cage, then based on a coin toss, another man entered every 2 minutes. All 4 of one team had to escape the cage to win the match. I thought Big louie would end up in my lap when he and Freitas fought in front of me. My side of the crowd loudly chanted "EPW!" twice during the match. Diamond channeled Jimmy Snuka and leapt from the top of the cage onto everyoe else in the ring, causing a friend of mine to scream "Oh My God!" , which led me to say to him "Calm down, Joey Styles. Calm down."

We all had a great time and I hope EPW returns again to Swanzey.

Jimmy Rave & RoH

Source: http://www.wrestleview.com

PWInsider is reporting that Jimmy Rave was let go by Ring of Honor and is officially done with the company at this point. As part of the release, Rave will also no longer be working for ROH's sister promotion Full Impact Pro in Florida.

Although many things had been brewing, the "final straw" according to reports was at ROH's event in Deer Park, Long Island last weekend where Rave suffered an ear injury in his match and stormed backstage demanding to see ROH officials as the show was live. Sources have stated that Rave said he was quitting and wanted a release while speaking to two different top ROH officials.

Rave was said to have been unhappy recently in ROH for the last few months and as a result, ROH management made the decision to drop him. Rave was even overheard telling wrestlers at the ROH event in Edison, NJ that he wasn't expecting to stay much longer. Many within ROH were said to be unhappy with the way Rave demanded his release during the middle of a live show.

Another source has also stated that Rave's recent string of injuries in the company and not receiving any medical insurance from ROH was something that put him over the edge in terms of wanting to leave. This same source stated that all ROH deals are one-sided in favor of the promotion in that they never guarantee a number of dates for the performers. One main difference with ROH and other groups though is that all wrestlers are free to work elsewhere unless its for competing TV or PPV companies. Some ROH fans were led to believe that Rave's departure from the company was a work-shoot Internet angle started by ROH. However, reports now are stating that isn't true.

Dory Funk Jr. wrestling story, FPWA, + CAPW

Funk's Corner - Bob Geigel, Verne Gagne and Dory Funk Sr. Shoot Out at the Flying Mare Ranch

Bob Geigel looked me in the eye and said, "Dory," I am telling you ahead of time, I am going to get your right leg."

We were on the wrestling mat in the garage of my father's home on the Flying Mare Ranch in Umbarger, Texas. (20 miles southwest of Amarillo) Dory Funk Sr. , Verne Gagne and Terry Funk were Standing to the side.

I was 16 years old, in high school athletics playing football and amateur wrestling. I knew Geigel was good, He was a Big Ten Amateur wrestling champion but he was going to tell me which leg he was going to get and then do it?

Geigel was big, strong and rawboned with big strong hands. He had lost the tip of one finger but I think it only made his grip stronger.

As we hooked up, Geigel grabbed my right arm by the wrist and would not let go. He pulled down hard! To keep my balance, I planted my right foot resisting his strength.

All of a sudden there was nothing to resist as Bob Geigel had released my wrist and dropped to my right leg which was firmly planted right in front of him. Bob stepped forward driving his shoulder into by knee while holding tightly to my ankle and in a second, I was on my butt with Geigel on top.

Bob released and let me up then showed me the technique.

Verne Gagne, a former NCAA Champion from Minnesota stepped in and said, "Geigel, you can't do that to me. Geigel turned and faced Vern Gagne. Geigel made a move for Verne's leg but Verne blocked with his weight and a cross face and in a second was behind Geigel in a riding position.

My father, Dory Funk Sr., an Indiana University amateur wrestler and state high school champion, walked on to the padded surface and challenged Verne for a go on the mat. Dad forced Verne back to the edge of the garage where the hot water tank stood. Verne pushed back and Dad released his push, pulling hard on Verne's right arm dragging him face forward and slipping behind for a two point take down.

Geigel was back out on the mat challenging Dory Funk Sr. for a go wanting to even the score. In a scramble, Geigel was fighting for the upper position. Dad's "Wizzer" maneuver fell victim to a half nelson and Bob Geigel was on top. (Wizzer is an amateur wrestling move named for and popularized by Cheif Justice of the Supreme Court, Wizzer White who was also an amateur wrestler).

All three of these great amateur and professional wrestlers had won one and lost one, save my never redeemed victim of Bob Geigel's single leg pick-up.

We all retreated to the kitchen where Mother, Dorothy Funk and Bob's wife Vera Geigel had prepared wild ducks roasted in their own gravy from the morning hunt on the southeast corner of the Flying Mare Ranch.

Talk at the dinner table was about how everyone in the business would have liked to have seen these three top shooters in the wrestling business go at each other.

Congratulations to Bob and Vera Geigel who will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this August 21 in Kansas City.

The first match from Support the Troops 18, "Fight For Freedom" is now up on !BANG! TV at www.dory-funk.com. For information on training schedules at the Funking Conservatory, call 352-895-4658.

FINAL CARD FOR CAPW NIGHT OF LEGENDS: SUNDAY AUGUST 5!

CAPW Heavyweight Title Cage Match: The Blue Meanie vs. Jason Bane
Two men united by a common enemy will be torn apart by the desire to be called ‘champion’. This past June, the 6’8 300+ pound Jason Bane extracted revenge on the man whom had kept him from the CAPW Title for so long, Tracy Smothers, as Bane aided The Blue Meanie in defeating Smothers for the heavyweight crown. As a result, Meanie took over Smothers’ obligations, meaning Da Blue Guy was now obligated to battle Bane on August 5 in the main event inside a 15 foot high steel cage. Bane told the Meanie he was ready to go hardcore, ready to go ECW style, but is either man truly prepared for the hellacious and unforgivable atmosphere that will exist when these two men collide surrounded by solid steel?

Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin vs. Johnny Gargano & Josh Prohibition
19 year old prodigy Johnny Gargano proved himself to be on the same level as many of the more experienced, established national stars when he defeated the internationally renowned Alex Shelley in a Best of Three series. It was a feat so impressive, and so similar to what Shelley had strived to prove, and indeed succeeded at, some 3-4 years ago, Shelley even told Gargano that Gargano reminded him of himself. However, Gargano’s success, as always, went straight to his head, and repeatedly denied Alex’s requests at a rematch. Therefore, Shelley decided to get into Johnny’s head himself. Sending a flunky from Paparazzi Productions armed with a camera, Shelley’s crony appeared during Gargano’s match this past June, distracting him and costing him a victory. As a result of this embarrassment, Gargano agreed to meet Shelley in the ring one more time, but on his terms… it would be a tag team match. Gargano quickly selected long-time ally Josh Prohibition as his partner, while Shelley countered the move by choosing his current tag team partner in TNA, one-half of the “Motor City Machine Guns”, former four-time X Division champion, Chris Sabin. It’s the final chapter of an epic series between two mat masters. Alex Shelley and Johnny Gargano in a CAPW ring together one final time.

CAPW Tag Titles: Faith in Nothing vs. Tracy Smothers & Chris Hamrick
Christian Faith & Vincent Nothing have worked tirelessly for an entire year now to establish themselves as the premiere tag team in Cleveland, defeating every top tag title contender in the process. As FIN look to continue to watch their legacy grow, they now seek out the best tag team competition from outside the area… specifically the #1 tag team in the state of Tennessee. Not only have Tracy Smothers & Chris Hamrick, collectively known as Southern Comfort, both held the CAPW Heavyweight Title in the past, they’ve also held a multitude of tag team titles both together, and with numerous other partners. Now the best from the Volunteer State meet the best tag team Ohio has to offer, with the CAPW Tag Team Titles at stake.

Grudge Match: “Dogfaced Gremlin” Rick Steiner vs. Buff Bagwell
The careers of these two legendary tag team grapplers have intertwined several times over the years, most frequently and notably in World Championship Wrestling. It was while in WCW in early-1998, that these men would cross paths in a moment that would change each of their lives forever. While attempting one of his trademark bulldog headlock takedowns, Steiner inadvertently injured Bagwell, breaking the then-NWO member’s neck in the process. It was a moment that would not soon be forgotten, and would ultimately tear apart both the Steiner and Bagwell family at its very seams before it was all said and done. However, old grudges die hard, and on August 5, it’s the match over 9 years in the making as Bagwell goes face-to-face with the man who changed his life forever, and Steiner goes face-to-face with the man responsible for turning Rick’s brother against him. What will happen when old wounds are reopened and these men face each other inside the squared circle one more time?

CAPW Jr. Heavyweight Title: Super Hentai vs. Shark Boy vs. The Aftermath
When Super Hentai captured the CAPW Junior Heavyweight Title earlier this year, he began a crusade. A crusade to bring honor, prestige, and respect to a championship that truly deserved it. A championship that had once been held captive by egomaniacs like the Johnny Garganos of the world, was now free to be represented by a man who is a champion in every sense of the word, both in and out of the wrestling ring. On August 5, Hentai attempts to continue to build the legacy of both himself and the title he holds, against two very different opponents. One, The Aftermath, is still at the beginning of his career, still trying to earn a name for himself, and can do so overnight by defeating someone with the worldwide experience of Hentai. Also, there is the individual from “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” Shark Boy. One of the most unique and fun-filled athletes anywhere in the world today, however in Hentai’s eyes, Shark Boy lacks the true serious qualities that a champion should represent. Hentai will be fighting for what he believes in, what he believes a champion should be, but can this champions survive two hungry challengers, one possessing the lethal bite of a shark?

“M-Dogg 20” Matt Cross vs. Nigel McGuiness
An unfortunate and unavoidable scheduling conflict may have left Too Cold Scorpio out of the Night of Legends, but M-Dogg 20 will still have his hands more than full in what is sure to be an action-packed potentially show-stealing contest. Both men have made major strides both in CAPW, in addition to the ever-expanding Ring of Honor promotion. M-Dogg is perhaps the best flyer in professional wrestling today, perfecting and in some cases even inventing, visually amazing high-risk aerial moves. Nigel McGuiness brings a style not often seen in the U.S. A master of both the British style, as well as the American style, Nigel fuses his extensive knowledge together to form a one-of-a-kind offensive, and one that is very difficult to prepare for. Two of the most intense and fastest rising names in the game today will collide for a sure to be memorable encounter.

Open Challenge: Hardcore Rules: Jessica Havok vs. Luna Vachon
Jessica Havok is the most intimidating female presence to ever step foot into a CAPW ring. Since signing on as JT Lightning’s personal bodyguard, Jessica has earned her keep by annihilating every opponent, both male and female, that has been put in her path. Havok has made it a habit to dispose of one, two, or sometimes up to four different opponents in the same night. It is clear no woman on CAPW’s regular roster can pose a challenge to Jessica Havok, but on Sunday August 5 she’ll be opposed by someone not like anyone on CAPW’s active roster: Luna Vachon. One needs only to look at the menacing snear and grating voice of Luna to know how dangerous she can become. And anyone who questions her toughness need only look at her legendary family of aunts and uncles (Maurice “Mad Dog” Vachon, Paul “Butcher” Vachon, and Vivian Vachon) to know she has been bred for success from a very young age. On August 5, Luna brings her wild unpredictable style rarely if ever seen in women’s professional wrestling today, and she also brings Hardcore Rules. No disqualifications, anything goes. Will Jessica Havok be able to withstand one of wrestling’s wildest women, or has the master of the “Open Challenge” finally met her match?

“Superfly” Jimmy Snuka vs. “Wildfire” Tommy Rich
The youngest NWA World Heavyweight Champion in history Rich was quick to issue a challenge to professional wrestling’s original Phenom upon hearing he was scheduled on the card. Rich has had a storied and decorated career from his NWA Title reign to his unforgettable stint as one of the Full Blooded Italians in ECW. Just as wild and unpredictable, is the timeless “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, a true innovator and pioneer of high-flying professional wrestling, who is still known to take to the air even after all these years. What could possibly happen when these two over-the-top personalities meet in the same ring
at the same time?

CAPW TV Title: Conrad Kennedy III vs. Chris Cronus
CK3 found great benefit in the Smothers/Bane rivalry, as The Wild Eyed Southern Boy’s involvement cost Bane the title to the brash Conneticut native. Now, in what can potentially be billed as a “Future Legends” match, CK3 defends the gold against an athlete who is still very young, but very experienced when it comes to big-match situations, in Chris Cronus.

Mythical Six-Man Tag Titles: JT Lightning/Da Munchies vs. Carlton Kaz/Q&A
The disrespectful and delusional trio of JT Lightning, Dick Trimmins, and Too Cool Abdul continue their crusade of convincing the public they are the current reigning World Six Man Tag Team Champions, despite never actually defeating anyone for that title, and the fact the title has been inactive for over fifteen years. JT & Da Munchies may have dodged a proverbial bullet when scheduled opponent Jimmy Snuka was challenged by Tommy Rich, but Carlton Kaz alongside the high-flying Virus & Unknown will be more than enough competition as they try to beat JT & Da Munchies back into reality. Will they be successful or will this sham of a “title reign” continue?

Lord Zoltan vs. Doink the Clown
Two of the most unique personalities collide when His Highness takes on The Prince of Pranks. Zoltan’s professional career spans over thirty years and countless promotions, including the World Wrestling Federation. Zoltan is perhaps best known to CAPW audiences for his clash with the Honky Tonk Man earlier this year. Meanwhile, Doink the Clown certainly speaks for himself. A classic prankster than knows no bounds when it comes to getting a laugh at the expense of his opponents. It promises to be one of the most unique encounters in recent memory.

Irish Airborne's Jake Crist & Neveah vs. Lexie Lane & Robby Starr
CAPW’s most prolific couple, Starr & Lane, team up for a rare mixed tag team match, against Neveah & one of the greatest tag team wrestlers anywhere in the world today, Jake Crist, one-half of former #1 contenders to the tag team title Irish Airborne. We saw the lengths Crist would go to back in the unforgettable ladder match this past April, but will the heart and desire be enough to overcome the chemistry of the long-time personal and professional associates Starr & Lane?

Special “King of Cleveland” Invitational!
Some of Cleveland All Pro’s biggest and brightest regular stars compete in a fierce multi-man gauntlet with the winner being crowned the King of Cleveland. Two men start with a 5:00 minute time limit. Whoever can defeat their opponent within the time limit moves on. If neither individual can score a win, both are eliminated. The last man standing will be victorious and crowned official #1 contender to the CAPW Title! It’s a chance for a veteran to re-establish dominance, a rookie to become an overnight sensation, or for an outside star to mark his turf. Which individual involved in this wild and chaotic gauntlet will be left standing at the end and make a major statement at CAPW’s largest event?
